When it comes to RPing, I have an RP partner who is a pretty cool guy. We’ve got most of our characters pretty much intertwined and have come up with some pretty epic plot ideas that I am absolutely ecstatic for. The problem at the moment, though, is the fact some of our characters are so connected that if he loses muse for one of his, I’d have to pretty much drop one of my characters because their plot relies on his character. This wasn’t much of an issue in the beginning, though. He was always a fast replier, and I admit I’m not the fastest replier, but I always try to reply within the week.
( We do multiple paragraphs, so it takes an hour or two to write a reply )
As of late, though, he hasn’t really been replying or posting at all with the characters that are needed for our plots. While I’m typically understanding and very patient with this, especially since I know he’s a bit busy IRL, I’m starting to get worried. He usually replies within a day or two, but it’s been weeks, almost a month since he last replied to our threads. He gets online and we talk all the time about it, but he just doesn’t post like he used to.
I’m trying to stay patient and not bother him to reply and such, I know how annoying that can be, after all. But, the problem is if I stop using my characters for long periods of time, their muses eventually end up dying, or I end up playing them totally different because I’m no longer adjusted to the mind set I need in order to play them. This issue became extremely apparent when I tried to re-use an old character of mine with friends, and they all pointed out that she was totally different from her old self.
I don’t want this to happen, but until he finally starts replying, half of my characters are completely frozen plot wise. They can’t advance forward or develop since his characters are key roles in what I’ve planned out for my own characters.
As horrible as this might sound, and it’s probably just a result of my current irritation that I say this, but I wish he’d stop using the excuse “my muse is on the fritz” and just reply, or just drop the characters if they aren’t cooperating so I can finally get my characters moving, again. If we weren’t such good friends, and if I wasn’t a staff member on the site this RP takes place on, I would’ve left by now.
