fuck yeah roleplaying rabbit!

I used to have a partner who loved IC drama and angst as much as I did. We planned it together and cackled about it OOC.

Suddenly, she took a 180 and I couldn’t get her to do any drama. She refused repeatedly, specifically stating she couldn’t bring herself to do such awful things to my characters, even though I was totally okay with it, and actually asked her to. It would have been fine if she were simply uncomfortable with certain ideas, but she actually began behaving as if the characters were real people. I kept reminding her that they weren’t real, and that no one was actually being harmed, but she seemed legitimately distressed by the idea of hurting a certain character, despite having planned drama and hardship with said character countless times before. She just legitimately seemed to believe they were real. Eventually, this issue coupled with a bunch of OOC drama ended the friendship. Since then, I’ve gained excellent partners and best friends who are happiest when our characters are going through the worst suffering of their lives, and they fully understand that the roleplay experience isn’t real life with real people. I’ve never been happier (or so vicariously miserable…or happily miserable?)
